There are three tabs in the Settings window - ‘Application’, ‘Workspace’ and ‘Global Hotkeys’. 'Application' tab and 'Global Hot Keys'
tab have settings that are application level. Workspaces tab settings apply to indivisual workspaces.
Application:
A new workspace can be by doing either of the following:
Automatically Start: Whether Allinkster should automatically start with Windows
Explorer context menus: Whether Allinkster commands are to be shown in the right-click menu of items in Windows
Tray Icon: Whether to show tray icon. If disabled, you might not be able to take advantage of a few important functionalities
(as discussed further). Following options will not be available on disabling tray icon:
Always hide instead of exit: Whether to hide Allinkster instead of exiting when you click close on the title bar or press Alt + F4
from the main window. This option applies only to exit commands given from the main window. If you click exit from the tray icon
context menu, Allinkster will always exit regardless of this option.
Auto-hide time (inactive minutes): Specify after how many minutes of inactivity, Allinkster should hide. Specifying ‘0’ means
don’t hide.
Auto-index browser bookmarks: Whether to automatically index bookmarks from browsers. Turning this option on will enable Allinkster
to automatically index bookmarks that you add to your browsers while browsing the internet.
Auto-fetch start menu links: Whether to automatically index new start menu items.
Remember workspaces: Whether to remember previously loaded workspaces.
Show windows recent: Whether to show your recently accessed windows files under the ‘Recent’ category. These ‘Windows recent’
entries only are session dependent and will be gone when you clear your windows recent history.
Autosuggest in online searches: Whether Allinkster should provide automatic suggestions as you type when performing
online searches.
How to download updates: Whether Allinkster should automatically download updates, notify about availability of new updates or not do anything about updates.
Workspace:
No. of recent entries: Number of recent entries to show in recent category. This value does not include ‘Windows recent’. It
only includes the entries you have launched from within Allinkster. The maximum value can be 99. If you have enabled showing Windows
recent, they will all be shown in addition to the number specified above.
Music stacking: Specify how music should be stacked, by ‘Artist’ or ‘Album’. Selecting ‘None’ will show them alphabetically by file
name akin to the rest of the links.
Days to highlight newly added: Number of days to highlight newly added entries. Newly added entries will be shown in blue color
for no. of days specified in this option.
Links Font: Font chosen to display links.
Categories background color: Background color used to highlight category types.
Check File Exists: Whether to check for existence of links that point to local files or folders. This option only applies to
already added links. When adding new ones, Allinkster will always check whether the added entry exists on the disk. Turning this
option on can give the application a sluggish performance if you have a lot of local files added in the list.
Categories in tray menu: The 'Pick' button allows
you to pick the category types that will be available in the menu when you right click the try icon.
Auto-fetch web page title: Whether to automatically fetch page title for web type links when no Nickname is specified. Does
not work for adding multiple URLs at the same time. Title retrieval time depends on your internet connection. Allinkster will only
try for a maximum of 4 seconds after which, the URL will be considered as the nickname.
Stack Links automatically: Whether Allinkster should automatically stack links and shortcuts. For example, with this option turned on,
http://www.allinkster.com/guide will automatically be added under http://www.allinkster.com
if both of them are added (in any order).
All setting in this tab are separate for separate workspaces.
Global Hot Keys:
These setting specify different keys that you can use to execute Show, Paste, Add, Load workspace and Find commands. The keys are used
with a combination of Ctrl, Alt, Shift and Win key combinations.
Global hot keys functionality requires Tray Icon to be enabled in the 'Application' tab.
Main window checkboxes:
Single click: This option controls the click behavior in the Tree view (single or double click to launch).
Topmost: Specifies whether Allinkster should always be shown on top of other applications.
'+' button: Increases font size by 0.25 units at a time.
'-' button: Decreases font size by 0.25 units at a time.
