This guide only covers menus whos functionality is not covered in the other sections.
Actions Menu (Menu Bar):
The Actions menu has the following commands:
Undo: undoes your last change
Redo: redoes your last undone change
The undo or redo operation will be available even after application exit or machine shutdown.
Restore state: Clicking this command will bring up the 'Restore State' window:
Please note that although this window
has checkboxes, you cannot select multiple states. This is just the 'Categories' window being reused to reduce program size
The states here are shown with dates. Select the desired state and click restore to restore your links list to the
previous state. All changes you had made after that state will be lost.
This restore operation cannot be undone.
Delete States: This deletes all the previous versions of your changes (but not your current set of links). Undo, Redo and 'Restore State' operations will become
unavailable after this operation. This operation cannot be undone.
Workspace: See Workspace for this menu functionality.
Index Start Menu: Indexes start menu items manually. Even if you have turned on '
Auto-fetch
start menu links
' in settings, new start menu items will not be indexed if you're working in some non-default workspace. In such cases
this command comes in handy.
Paste from Clipboard: Imports links to any files, folders, shortcuts or urls that you have copied to the clipboard.
Delete All: This action clears out your entire list of links from Allinkster. This action can be undone.
Help Menu (Menu Bar):
The help menu has the following commands:
Contents: The commands under this menu item will link to different sections of this online guide.
About: This will show information about Allinkster.
Check for Update: This will check for any program updates. If any updates are available, a
message
will be shown to the right of the File Menu. Clicking on the message will download updates.
Options Menu (Menu Bar):
The Options menu has the following commands:
Browser: This lets you select the global default browser. See 'Browser Button'.
View: This lets you change the category view. See 'View Button'.
Settings: Brings up the Settings window. See Settings
Categories Menu (Right click menu):
The Categories context menu
is only shown on right clicking category nodes (Folders, Documents, etc..). This menu has the following commands:
Delete Under: This deletes all child links of the selected category.
Expand/Expand All: Expands the selected node / Expands all nodes at the same level.
Expand/Expand All: Collapses the selected node / Collapses all nodes at the same level.
Links Menu (Right click menu):
The Links context menu is only shown on right clicking any kind of link nodes. This menu has the following commands:
Launch: Launches the selected link.
Launch Parent: Launches the parent link of the selected link if it is launchable.
Launch with: Shows the 'Open With' dialog for local links. Web links will be presented with a list of browsers to open with. 'Programs/Scripts' type links will
give an error message.
Open Containing folder: Launches the parent folder for local links.
Rename (Nickname only): Renames the selected link (only the name).
Delete Link: Deletes the selected link. See Delete.
Delete Everything Under: Deletes child links of the selected link.
Copy Name: Copies the name of the link to the clipboard.
Copy Link Path: Copies the path of the link to the clipboard.
Properties: Displays the properties of the link.
Tray Menu:
The tray icon menu will be shown on right clicking the tray icon. It has the following commands:
Show Window: Brings forward the main window if it's hidden or minimized.
Add Link: Opens the 'Add Link' window.
Index Links: Opens the 'Index Links' window
Paste from Clipboard: Imports copied links from the clipboard.
Find Link: Opens up the 'Find Link' window.
Workspace: If you have enabled 'Remember workspaces', gives you a list of workspaces to choose
from or allows you to load a workspace by browsing to a folder..
Browser: Allows you to select the global default browser from the list of supported browsers.
Settings: Opens up the 'Settings' window.
About: Show information and copyright about Allinkster.
Exit: Clicking this command will always exit Allinkster regardless of what
setting you chose.
The tray icon menu will also show the categories that you have selected to be shown here. These
categories will show all the links that are classified under them. For example, in the picture it shows the 'Web Locations' category containing
all web type links.
